Description of the cleaning plan.

In coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of the Province of Chubut, we participated in the organization and collection of garbage on the coast located between Punta Cormoranes and Morro Nuevo of the Peninsula Valdés. Ten kilometers of coastline contaminated by elements of different types were cleaned, among them, drawers, buckets and baskets discarded by local fishing companies.

 

Personnel from the area of ​​the Ministry of Tourism and Environment participated in the collection along with the El Princio stay and the sheep laborer Domingo Necul who decided to participate on his own accord.

 

The cleaning plan was finalized in three weeks, the last one lasting a full week, the personnel who made it established a base in our home to more easily access the affected area.  Approximately 4000 thousand fishing drawers were extracted and an important sum of buckets, baskets, plastic and glass bottles, gloves, ropes, nets, buoys and rolls of tape, among others.

 

To achieve the cleanliness of the coast, several steps were carried out. First, the coast was traveled on foot, accumulating small mounds of garbage in its extension and later with vehicles transporting the waste more easily to a point near the exit of the coast, then it was transferred to the room where it was deposited in a refugee place of the wind to prevent the spreading of light material. Finally, a meeting point was established on the route to transfer the material to a semi truck in the province with a trailer of approximately 12 meters.

 

In order to carry out the trash transfer, an utv, three vans and two trailers from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism were used. In addition, there was a jeep, a van, two trucks, two trailers and a tractor provided by the El Principo.

 

The trash removed was transferred to the city of Rawson. From there, the recyclable material was taken to Patagonia Recycled in the city of Trelew for the realization of plastic poles, which are used by the Ministry of Tourism for the production of trails in different tourist areas of the province.
